Our Scarecrow Cross Stitch pattern would make a fab birthday card for a rough and tumble youngster.
It doesn’t look as though our scarecrow is going to see off many birds, though, there seems to be a blackbird perched on the scarecrow’s head!
We’ve chosen shades of red and blue for the scarecrow’s clothes which have a cheerful yellow sun motif on the pocket of the bib and patches on its worn dungarees.
Our friendly scarecrow has been stuffed with straw which you can see coming out of his wrists and ankles, as well as its pockets and hat. It looks as though its hair is also made out of straw, or maybe it just needs a comb to smarten it up!
There are 14 bright colors in our Scarecrow Cross Stitch pattern and the design measures 70 x 80 stitches on 16 count white Aida. That’s an ideal size for a birthday card. If you’d like the design to be a little larger then use 14 count Aida, or if a little smaller, then 18 count Aida would be perfect.
As usual, the design really pops when the outlining is done in a single thread of black DMC. We think that if you’re going to spend a lot of time making something special then you should use the best quality threads.
