We call this design PetalMatrix Blackwork Cross Stitch Pattern.
You’d be forgiven for thinking that the PetalMatrix Blackwork Cross Stitch Pattern was incredibly difficult to stitch, but actually it’s so simple that you could tackle it without any problem if you’re a beginner with a little patience.
This design has been created on 16 count Aida in three DMC colors of red, blue and purple, but you could choose any colors to fit in with your home decor scheme.
When finished it measures just 50 x 50 stitches so, take it from us, if you just stand back from the picture a little, it looks impressively intricate.
You can see all sorts of things in the PetalMatrix Blackwork Cross Stitch Pattern. There are little hearts, petals that look like roses and are those blue shapes leaves? They could be.
Blackwork is a very easy type of needlework to do because it is just tiny straight stitches in one strand of DMC thread. Looked at from a distance the small straight lines create curves and shapes on the fabric.
If you enjoy making this pattern in the three colors we’ve chosen, you could make others in different colors and mount them in one of those frames where you can display three or four pictures at a time. That would make a really individual piece of art for your home, or for a friend if you can bear to give it away!
