Spring is in the air with our Mother’s Day cross stitch flowers card.
We’ve chosen some lovely colors in shades of purple and green for this Mother’s Day cross stitch flowers card. The special mother in your life will love this design as well as the bright blue vase with its seasonal message.
This design, stitched on 16 count Aida, will take you around seven hours, which sounds a lot but there is a lot of outlining to do in black thread, to make the colors really pop.
We prefer to use DMC for our Mother’s Day cross stitch flowers, because it’s good quality thread and available all over the world, but you don’t need to buy thread specially, if you already have suitable colours then do use those instead.
When you order this chart you can download it from the internet straight away. You’ll get a detailed black and white chart so that it’s easy to see which color needs to go where, and you’ll also receive a color block chart so that stitching couldn’t be simpler.
Make your Mother’s Day cross stitch flowers design special
If you want to make the Mother’s Day cross stitch flowers really special, you could use holographic thread for outlining. We use holographic thread for detail all the time because it’s really effective when a design reflects lamplight. Our preferred makes are Gutermann which has a range of holographic and single color threads and Glitter Superior Threads which are made in Japan and are excellent quality.
We also find stitching is easier if you run your thread through a product called Thread Heaven which comes in a small blue container and costs about £3 in the UK, around $5.50 in the US. Running thread across the product creates a static charge which helps to keep the threads apart if you are using them doubled. It also helps to prevent tangling and knotting.
