Our talented young designer has come up with this fabulous English Cottage cross stitch pattern, something for everyone who loves the English countryside and everything about Great Britain.
Created with the experienced stitcher in mind, our English Cottage cross stitch Pattern uses 33 colors to make the 140 x 100 stitch design on 16 count white Aida.
There are some quite large sections of block color, particularly in the sky, so if you have the time and patience this is a good design to try when you know you have a clear couple of weeks without too many distractions.
Our English Cottage cross stitch pattern depicts a typical English cottage of the sort you might see in Herefordshire, Worcestershire or in the West Country.
In the olden days, houses were built using a large wooden frame and then covered in plaster which was often painted. In more recent times, people have taken off the outer plaster to expose the building’s oak frame, which is a wonderful example of craftsmanship which has survived for hundreds of years.
This looks like several cottages, maybe a bigger farmhouse has been converted into two homes. The roof is thatched and the doors have been painted pink. As with all homes of this era, there are no plastic windows, wooden frames complete the look.
One of the houses in our English Cottage cross stitch pattern has flower beds at the front of it while block paving leads up through a pretty lawn and to another building at the rear of the cottages.
It must be a nice day because the clouds are scudding across the sky and someone has been up early to hang their washing on the line. It can’t be that warm though because we can see wisps of smoke rising from the brick chimney on the cottages.
The English Cottage cross stitch pattern is completed with a sturdy wooden fence and two lovely trees in contrasting shades of green.
