Our beautiful Elephant Cross Stitch Pattern is unusual because it features a desert elephant from Namibia.
These graceful creatures live in the Kunene region of Namibia which is mostly gravel plains, sandy desert and rocky mountains. We chose to locate our Elephant Cross Stitch Pattern here because it’s an unusual setting for elephants.
There are not many herds of them left in the wild in Namibia but there are now around 30 elephants which are protected by a conservation area.
Our Elephant Cross Stitch Pattern is designed on 16 count white Aida with 15 colors of shading which blend into a lovely picture. When completed, it measures 75 x 70 stitches so it’s not going to take too long to make.
It would be an ideal gift for someone who loves wildlife and is interested in conservation with the elephant standing in a desert scene with a tree to provide shade in the background.
Like all our designs, our Elephant Cross Stitch Pattern can be quickly downloaded from the internet so you can get started straight away. It is a detailed design but you get a color chart so that you can easily see where the shading goes to bring the picture alive. You also receive a black and white symbol chart so that you can check the colors.
We use DMC thread for our Elephant Cross Stitch Pattern
We’ve used DMC thread, as usual, because we think it is the best, so that’s two strands for the picture and then one strand of black for the outlining. It’s only when the outlining is finished that you can see the elephant emerge from the background in stunning detail.
If you enjoy making our Elephant Cross Stitch then you’ll also love our highly detailed Humming Bird cross stitch pattern.
Please send us a picture of your finished design, we’d love to see it.
