Our Diamond Vortex Blackwork pattern is the latest in our blackwork range. It looks really complicated, but we promise you that it’s not, and it won’t take you long to make either.
The intricate Diamond Vortex Blackwork pattern has been created on 16 count white Aida and despite the complicated impression, it uses just three colors and measures an easy-to-manage 70 x 70 stitches.
Blackwork could be described as a form of cross stitch but despite the curved shapes on the Diamond Vortex design, it uses just lots of very small straight stitches. It looks incredibly difficult but if you are already an intermediate stitcher, or someone with a bit less experience but a lot of patience, then you’ll find it very rewarding to stitch. You’ll get a black and white and also a color chart to help you make up this project.
We’ve chosen to make the Diamond Vortex Blackwork pattern with three colors of DMC thread but you could personalise it in lots of different ways, for instance by picking out some of the design components in a holographic or glitter thread. You could also use random dyed thread.
We recently found a pack of very reasonably priced random dyed thread in a local craft shop. It was actually meant to make friendship bracelets but once we found it split into six threads we thought we’d give it a go and we were delighted with the outcome.
If you have the time then it’s certainly worth experimenting with our Diamond Vortex Blackwork pattern so that you can personalise it.
Do take a look at the section of our other Blackwork patterns. We guarantee that once you’ve started making these designs, you’ll want to make lots more. They would look great stitched and put into the same color frames, so that you have several displayed at once.
