Our latest slice of home is this lovely rendition of the Great British Union Flag. You might know it as the Union Jack but technically that’s only when it’s flown from a ship.
Our version of the Union Flag is 16 count and uses nine colours to add a little extra depth to the criss cross bands. This is actually two flags laid on top of each other – the flag of St George, England, which is a red cross on a white background, and the flag of Scotland, the Cross of St Andrew, or the saltire, which is a diagonal white cross on a blue background.
You have to be careful how you fly the flag though. If you fly a Union Flag upside down then it’s an SOS signal!
